FS-1920 Low Cost Toner - Save 200 Pounds - Warning Black Pages

We do not sell toner. This article is a warning for anyone who is about to change the toner in a Kyocera laser printer. The printer I had the problem with is the FS-1920 but this may apply to other printers.

The printer was printing perfectly and ran out of toner. Usually I change the toner quickly and carry on printing without cleaning the printer. Then when the printing has finished I turn the printer off and clean as instructed by Kyocera.

On this occasion for some reason I decided to clean the printer immediately while the printer was waiting to finish the printing. A few minutes later it was done, I closed the machine and pressed the button to resume the printing. The first page out was black all over both sides of the paper, and that is how it stayed.

I contacted Kyocera and was told it was probably the main charger that was faulty but that I could try removing the drum and putting it back. I did as instructed but it make no difference.

I contacted Kyocera again and was told it was best for me to change the whole drum assembly. I ordered a new drum for 192 pounds inclusive, fitted it and now I am back to perfect printing, but still not absolutely certain of what I actually did to cause the fault.

In future I will only ever clean the printer with the power turned off - and hope that this is the solution.
