| Using the Plugboard |
To do the electronic component experiments you will need a plugboard wired with a 5 volt supply. The plugboard fitted to our PIC Training and Development System is ideal as it is already wired with a 5 volt supply which is current limited so that even if you make a severe wiring error there will never be a safety hazard. If you do not have our PIC system then you will need a plugboard of the same type and you will need to wire it with a 5 volt supply. |
At the top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right of the plugboard there are 5 x 5 horizontal groups of interconnected sockets. In the body of the plugboard there are two vertical groups of 64 x 5 interconnected sockets. The positive of the 5 volt supply connects to the top left horizontal group of sockets and is marked with a red line. The negative of the 5 volt supply connects to the horizontal group immediately below the positive line and is marked with a blue line. |

For Example:- A2 connects to B2, C2, D2 and E2. A2 does not connect to F2. A2 does not connect to A1 or A3. The positive supply connects to Z3 which is connected to Z4, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z9, Z10 etc up to and including Z31. Z31 does not connect to Z34. (The W X Y and Z letters are not printed on the plugboard, they have been edited into the picture) |
