Overview of Brunning Software Training Courses

An introduction to our training courses by Peter Brunning In 1999 when I started writing the first Brunning Software PIC training course part of my task was to create a simple yet powerful PIC assembler to complement the book and the programmer. The success of this assembler can be judged from the fact that over the years since 1999 all my own PIC assembly language programmes have been written using the Brunning Software assembler. It is no coinsidence that the Brunning Software asssembler still meets all my needs, because as my requirements have expanded so have the facilities in BSPA and BSPH. But Microchip have also been expanding and improving their PIC assembler software. And now we have reached the point where the Microchip system is only slightly more difficult for beginners. The one area where the Brunning Software assembler still excells for beginners is its simulator. The BSPA simulator allows pressing of the push buttons to be simulated, allows code to be bypassed without being run, and simulates text being send to the LCD. These special features are a great help for absolute beginners. The Microchip assembler is now an attractive option for beginners who are studying for professional reasons. But even so the Brunning Software encryption system gives our software a unique advantage for small businesses. With our encryption system unprotected data is never saved to the hard drive. January 2008 update - P928 and PH28:- The CD supplied with our PIC courses now includes our own Windows software for writing code into the PIC, as well as our assembler programmes. So whichever of our courses is purchased all the options are on the CD. We have also created a new book Experimenting with PICs using MPASM. This book is the same as my first PIC book Experimenting with PIC Microcontrollers except that the instruction is based on the Microchip assembler. We have also added some features to our programmer/experimental module. We have added a second RS-232 port and a USB port which are both for experimental use with a 28 pin PIC in the 40 pin ZIF socket. We have added two oscilloscope inputs (our oscilloscope Windows software is on the CD). And we now supply the standard course with a USB adaptor and USB lead with driver software on the CD. The original option with an RS-232 COM lead supplied is still available (P928-BS). Before you make your decision to purchase you are very welcome to telephone me to talk about your requirements. These are the usual options:- If your PC is running Windows XP, 2000, Vista etc:- For PIC training you should purchase either our P928-BU or P928-MU course. (164 GBP +pp) For combined PIC and Visual C# training you should purchase either our PH28-BU or PH28-MU course. (189 GBP +pp) If your PC is running Windows 98, ME or 95, or DOS:- For PIC training you should purchase our P928-BS course.
